We went in for dog food...

we came out with this.

Marley is the proud new caretaker of a googly eyed goldfish that she has cleverly bestowed the moniker Nemo.  She fell head over heels for this particular fish that has a kink in his tail and picked it out repeatedly in a tank that had several other goldfish, then she called her Papa to ask permission and promptly picked out a little mermaid fish tank for him to live in.  After we got him situated in his new digs, the little fish mama fed her fishy and instructed Nemo AND Ariel AND Sebastian to take a nap as she was on her way to take a nap of her own.  Further proof that the world is run by Disney.

You can tell by the look on his little fishy face, that Nemo knows just what he is in for!  (you MUST click on the picture to be able to fully appreciate it)

A culinary experience

We have been given the go ahead from our pediatrician to start giving Mackenzie food other than breast milk.  Since she has spent the last three weeks staring longingly at us while we ate, I'm guessing that she was pretty excited about it.  So last night she got her very first taste of a new flavor - rice cereal, mixed with, you guessed it - breast milk, baby steps!  She was SO excited to taste something different, she looked like a very hungry puppy.  She had her tongue out all the way and was using it to search for more of this new substance and would gobble it up as soon as it was in the vicinity of her mouth.  After her first three bites I was able to quickly snap this picture - quickly, she needed another bite.  Kenzie was all like - ARE YOU SERIOUS! - Are you going to take a picture of EVERYTHING! (At least that's what the look on her face said) And I was all like - yep, so get used to it kid!  Up next, peas!  Yum-Yum!

The Return of Chef Marley

Last night we were graced with the presence of Chef Marley but I think her internet fame is going to her head as she is now a celebrity superhero chef.  A celebrity superhero chef who is on the run from the paparazzi.  Above are a few of the shots I was able to get as she barreled through the house laughing her maniacal laugh, of course.  Take note of how the apron doubles as a superhero cape - to the rescue! With cupcakes!

Four Months!

Kenzie turns four months old on Friday and she celebrated this momentous occasion by getting four vaccinations - fun!  She was pretty tough though and she barely cried, then she broke my heart in two and smiled through the tears.  She is currently weighing in at 14 lbs. and is a full 26" long.  I am trying to enjoy every second of babydom - she'll be nearly three before I know it too!!!

Still loving Spring

We have been trying to enjoy the fabulous weather as much as possible lately - because in the blink of an eye it will be 99 degrees with 205% humidity - gotta love the south - at least it's only cold for 2 1/2 months!

I have decided, as of late, that it is about time that Mars started channeling her inner arr-teeest so we tried to make some sun pictures - note to self - try again when there are not hurricane force breezes.  Needless to say, Marley was unimpressed with the results - oh well, maybe next time.
Like I said it was a windy day, a ponytail would have been a better hairstyle choice.  I can't help but notice that my little nearly 3 year old looks much older in this picture - doesn't anyone make stay little pills!
Mars is enjoying a beach pedicure in her newly constructed sandbox - proof that Tre' is a genius.  He knows that if he waits long enough I will complete any construction project that he has consciously ignored therefore saving him time and energy.  He does however panic when he has discovered that I have been using power tools.  As he should.  Did I mention that I can't stand sand - what was I thinking!  Thanks Non and Pop!
Kenzie decided to take advantage of the calming breezes and her otherwise entertained sister and catch up on her beauty sleep.  She has been teething lately and hasn't been getting as many quality naps - still looking for those stay little pills!

Awww - so sweet!

In a few years I may not think that this is so cute - but as of this moment I am loving it!  Kenzie seems to only be an occasional thumb sucker so I think we are okay, and I appreciate her independence from the nuk.

The best part of our garden

This pot came with our house when we bought it and on several occasions I had to convince Tre' not to throw it away even though the paint was peeling and there is a hole in one side.  I loved the perfection of it's imperfection - anyone who knows me well knows that if something is rusted or has peeling paint, I will love it.  Anyway, after years of being moved from place to place and serving as a garbage can, it found it's perfect home.  Last spring we had finally finished doing the landscaping in front of the house when Tre' had a lightbulb moment - yes the very person who tried dispose of my perfect pot now wanted to use it!  Now it has a prominant place in the very front of the house - and we wish that we could find another one just like it.  One man's trash is another man's treasure - until the first man realizes that his wife is a genius!
